Plain old water

Water: Plain, tasteless and boring but all so necessary. Water is the only drink one can have all of that you want, and it not be bad for you. It is the best thing in the world when you are really thirsty, but for a sipping drink, it sucks, LOL.

Diet: I’ll talk a bit about what I am changing in my diet. I have decided once again to cut soda pop from my diet. As a matter of fact, I’m cutting all drinks with artificial sweetener. Yesterday was my first day to start cutting back, I drink only one soda yesterday and only one today. One seems to be enough to stop the caffeine withdrawal headaches, maybe tomorrow, I’ll be able to go without any, not sure. I will not be drinking any by the weekend, that is for sure. I have come to the conclusion that the artificial sweeteners are causing me to hold on to this last bit of weight that I would like to shed. If you read about artificial sweeteners, nobody has anything good to say about them, only bad stuff. So …. them artificial sweeteners, have got to go!
I hate losing my last fun drink, but the Atkins diet don’t allow sweet drinks so without the fake sugar …. it don’t leave much more than water. Maybe the day will come that I get my weight to where I want it and then I’ll be able to have a real drink with sugar in it, once or twice a month. The fight continues.

Bike ride: I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 10.26mi, time: 51:18, pace: 5:00min/mi, speed: 12.00mi/h.
http://mapmyride.com/workout/521763202 Added a mile walk on to my day, but I stopped and chatted with neighbors too much to call it a walk.

Hanging out: I think I will try to hang out in this area (Lake Havasu) for another two weeks, weather permitting. Maybe, nothing in stone. That would put me on a good schedule for crossing the state(AZ) and getting into NM.

Sports

Weather: The day is starting with clouds, pretty overcast. After a warm day yesterday the weatherman says it will be cooler for the next few days, a good thing for here, at least for this time of year. The wind is starting to pick up early today so if I do any exercise it will be a walk. My walk today will not likely be a long walk either ( the knees are a bit cranky ), but I’ll try for at least 3 miles, if I go. Such are my wondering thoughts, as this day begins 🙂

Exercise: A walk for today, I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 3.96mi, time: 01:20:25, pace: 20:20min/mi, speed: 2.95mi/h.

Basketball: Good game on today Michigan and Kentucky, it is at the half, and tied. They are playing for the final spot in the final four.

Update; Kentucky wins and plays Wisconsin in the final four.

Battle

Trip to the city: I took a ride into Lake Havasu today, pick up some water, few food items, did my laundry and got a hair cut. Big chuck of chores out-of-the-way. Such is the life of a busy old dude 😛

NO Exercise : I did no exercise today but I did do a little stretching and I will ride the bike tomorrow if the wind behaves and if not, there is always walking. I have been getting to my stretching about every other day and I want to step that up to everyday. I think I make far better progress it I stretch everyday.

Diet: The battle is on going and I am coming to another change …… I’ll let you know if I do any good with it. I got to give up something that I don’t want to, but it has to go, and this is not the first time I have had this battle. No more about it for now. Just know that I am still at the battle 🙂 I hate it when I must have the same fight over and over, don’t you? Sometimes that just the way our mind makes us do it.

Slack: My blog has not been getting much love of late, the old mind has just been wondering in other places. That is okay, I like letting it(the mind) float around on its own sometimes, it takes me to places that only I can visit, LOL. I was once a young hippie dude and my mind did do some floating around ….. I think there was the one night that I watched …. through a purple haze or maybe it was some strawberry fields …could have been a window pane …? You got to be an old hippie to understand this 😛 I am sure glad that part of my life passed pretty quickly 😯 Oh, I’m pretty sure I did inhale too …. deeply, but that was another time, long ago! Okay, enough self-incrimination.

Wake up the blog:
Oh boy, those last few lines should have woke up the blog a little, LOL. I am out of here, before I get into more trouble. It was fun being young 🙂 …. best I remember!

Slow

Exercise: I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 12.99mi, time: 01:04:23, pace: 4:57min/mi, speed: 12.11mi/h.
http://mapmyride.com/workout/519292072 Stretching added.

March Maddest: This evening I may watch me a basketball game. I spent many years in KY and this evening two teams from KY play in the NCAA, Kentucky Wildcats versus the Louisville Cardinals. Should be a good game.

Too Excited, not: Man, I have just been way low energy for the last couple of days. I am on a run of being lazy 😯 Oh wait, this is my normal, life is so good 🙂 Okay, kidding aside I have been running a bit slow or at least it seems that way to me. Maybe it is just the anticipation of moving back to NM for the summer? Who knows? Things like this come and go with us old dudes.

Pursuit of perfect weather

Travel: Time is moving by pretty fast, it won’t be long before I start my trip back to NM. As always I look forward to the change of doing something different. This year will be tricky for me weather wise. I am going to stay up in the north of the states on (I 40), so near as soon as I get started on the trip, the elevation is going to change by 5 to 7 thousand feet which will bring a major temperature drop. I’m spoiled to all this nice warm weather that I’ve enjoyed all winter, not looking forward to the cooler temperatures. I will stay here in Lake Havasu, AZ for a week or so in April but the temperatures at this elevation (only a few hundred feet) will be getting too warm soon. All the years before this I have always went across the lower parts of AZ and NM where the elevation changes are a little milder ( about 4 thousand feet ).
Checking out the ten day forecast the weather looks good for here, don’t know how long into April that will last.
😛 Ha, the pursuit of the perfect weather is such hard work! 😛 Okay life is pretty good 🙂

Exercise: A short slow walk today, just out kind of wondering in the desert. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 3.81mi, time: 01:30:13, pace: 23:41min/mi, speed: 2.53mi/h.

Slow day : I didn’t get to any high energy stuff today, just been kind of lazy. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get out for a good bike ride.

Little ride

Today: It is early in the morning and I’m debating what I’m going to get into today, if anything. I’ve had my breakfast and have decide not to ride the bike today, the wind is up a little already, so if there is any exercise today it will a walk. Soooo, I think I’ll fire the computer up and see how much money I don’t have in my bank account and that will help me decide to keep whatever I do today small 😦 I can not tell a lie, this economy is kicking my backside on this purely fixed income I have 😦
Okay, bank accounts checked, maybe I can make it to the city for a little while today 😉 , can’t stay to long but maybe I can drive though, LOL! Okay it’s not that bad, but it feels like sometimes 😯

City update; Okay I enjoyed getting out for a little while and running the roads. I got some water for the RV and a few food items.

Walk and stretch: After getting back from Lake Havasu I did a little stretching and took me a walk. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 4.06mi, time: 01:15:29, pace: 18:36min/mi, speed: 3.23mi/h.
http://mapmywalk.com/workout/517837331

Weather: Got to do a line or two on the weather. It is windy and dusty, and that is how this time of year is here in the wild west. Not complaining, this may have been the best winter I have ever had anywhere, weather wise.

Laptop: I have the Laptop fired-up today for a change of pace. I have gotten so I can go days now without using any kind of computing device other than the tablet. That is kind of handy.

Lunch: That will be a Pork chop, a small salad and a small amount of peanuts. It is cooking now 🙂
hmmmm hmmmm was good 🙂

Thankful

Weight 187: Out of control 😦 Staying too close to the refrigerator ………… maybe I can move it outside? Every time I walk by the refrigerator I hear a little voice that says” resistance is futile ” LOL. Maybe that is just the growl of my over size belly?

Okay, on the serious side of things, I think I may have too much processed meat in my diet. It is hard for me not to have those constant little snacks, like a slice of lunch meat now and then. Sometimes the slice turns into 3 or 4 slices! The now and then and the how much part of this is what gets me in trouble 😦 . I have always been a big eater, and I still am, but now I control what I eat pretty good ……… however the how much and how often part, not so much control.

Diet: Okay, my diet is kind of like the weather with me, I am just over doing it here on the blog. I will be dropping the subject as a daily thing. I’ll keep the blog updated on my weight, but not everyday. Oh crap, what have I done now? If I take out the weight and weather ………. what am I to talk about now? LOL. Hey, I still got exercise! I guess my blog is just about the the little daily things in my life, and seeing as I’m a very mild manner old dude that is just not all that exciting, is it? So am I going to change how I blog? No, but maybe I’ll keep it in mind, sorry, I just like the boring old dude that I am, it works for me 😛

Exercise: Good bike ride. I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 10.77mi, time: 47:11, pace: 4:23min/mi, speed: 13.70mi/h.
http://mapmyride.com/workout/515792475 Not a bad ride at all considering the hills and wind.

Exercise is something I enjoy, it feels good to me. When I was young and exercise was forced on me by school and the later on the military, I didn’t much like exercise. Mind you, I was not lazy because I came up on farms and there was plenty hard work that I didn’t mind doing, but exercise for the sake of exercise was not me. I think exercise is a thing that needs order to it, a steady pattern, or at least it does for me. For me liking exercising started about 15 years ago when one day I couldn’t reach my shoe to tie the laces without a lot of effort . So, I decided that I had to do something about that, and that is when exercise for the sake of exercise begin for me. I blew my knee out in the middle of that 15 years and couldn’t exercise much and regained my weight but over the last four years I have gotten things back under control, thank goodness. Even with my knee shot, I tried but I ran into limits and that discouraged me. Exercise has been good to me, it has taken me off blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. It is good to be able to exercise and enjoy the benefits that it gives, I am thankful.

Walk: Hey, I must be feeling feisty today because I added a short walk to mine day. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.44mi, time: 01:00:21, pace: 24:43min/mi, speed: 2.43mi/h. http://mapmywalk.com/workout/516034515 A slow walk, but a walk 🙂

Mobile Software

Weight 184: Looks like I beat the carbs back a little 🙂 for today? LOL.

Mobile software: I have been playing with Firefox Mobile browser and I’m begaining to get use to it. I have used Dolphin pretty much since I’d had Android but I’m thinking of changing to Firefox just for the benefit of the add-ons. Dolphin don’t have many and I’m finding out that Firefox Mobile has come a long way. The features I’m looking for most are to do with privacy. I found a new add-on for the Mobile and computer that I like a lot and it is ” Self Destructing Cookies”. This add-on eats up the tracking cookies as they are added. I have always use setting to delete cookies when exiting the browser but have never found a way to delete cookies as I get them and this add-on seems to do that, neat. I really like that it works on device and computer both, many of Firefox’s add-ons don’t.

Walk: Only a short one today and a stop in the middle too. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.13mi, time: 01:06:41, pace: 31:18min/mi, speed: 1.92mi/h. http://mapmywalk.com/workout/515017711

Weather: The temperature is starting to come on now, pretty strong with it making it to near 90°. It is 89° in the RV as I type this. The air is so dry that it don’t feel like it though, and that is a good thing.

The evils of one bad meal

Weight 187 /Diet: 😦  That is what I get for having just one bad meal. This is the bad thing about a low carb diet, you simply can’t do any high carb days. When starting a low carb diet you lose 10 to 20 pounds within the first couple of weeks, unfortunately I am near sure it would go the other way too, if you decided to change to another way of eating, you would gain that much back in only two weeks. Gaining 10 to 20 pounds is enough to stop me from ever wanting to change diets! The truth is this diet works pretty dang good for me even if I am over my target weight by 7 pounds. Most important is that I like eating this way for the most part, I don’t have to go around feeling hungry. Yes I do like a bad meal sometimes but not often.
My diet before had me over by 100 pounds, so you can see the big picture here. Of course, my diet before was the (see-food diet, I see food and I eat it) LOL. So in the big picture, I have to keep reminding myself 7 or 8 pounds is not a disaster. However, after being able to lose a 100 pounds it is aggravating that I can’t control the bottom ten pounds of my weight. You would think that after being able to get a grip on losing that much weight, that controlling the bottom ten pounds would be child’s play, but it don’t work that way, does it?

Exercise: I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 10.84mi, time: 55:34, pace: 5:08min/mi, speed: 11.71mi/h.
http://mapmyride.com/workout/514033491

Stretching: I did a little stretching today and it felt pretty good considering I have not done any stretching for three days. I guess I’m getting to some stretching about three or four times a week.

City: This afternoon I took a trip into Lake Havasu, just for something to do mostly. I did enjoy just running the roads with nothing much to accomplish.
