Birds: More Woodpeckers, and today it is two Flickers one from the east and one from the west. These are both Males and the females just have the red removed.
East … Northern Flicker. Actually the northern Flicker can be seen about anywhere in the US all year.
West … Gilder Flicker, in the US it can only be seen in AZ.
Weather: It is coolish, I am even running my electric heater. I think the humidity is making it feel cooler than it really is. We are getting lots of rain this year in upper NM and that is good. Looking at the forecast for next week I see a day that it is only getting into the lower 60s, wow.
It is 4pm and the rain has just set in.
Birds: Woodpeckers continue.
This first one is a Ladder Back Woodpecker, a very long shot. Both of these pictures where taken in AZ.
And this one is a Gilder Ficker, I cut this one legs and tail off with the camera 😦
Chores: Today was laundry day, like dishes laundry is never done.
Rain: We are getting yet another good rain and it feels nice. Oddly enough, I am really enjoying the rain this year up in the northern part of NM.
Birds: On with the Woodpeckers. This one is a Hairy Woodpecker and I took this picture in KY.
Here is a Gila Woodpecker and this shot was taken in AZ.
Exercise: I took me a walk today, the first in a long time now.
I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.27mi, time: 50:23, pace: 22:12min/mi, speed: 2.70mi/h.
Weather: Rain, we are getting a fair amount of it. It kind of feels good to be in an area where there is rain.
Birds: More Woodpeckers. Here is a Red-bellied Woodpecker hanging on 🙂 Hang on Sloopy by the MaCoys
This one just got a nice bite of suet.
It has been fun looking at all my old pictures this summer. By the way for those of you who are into photographing most all the series of pictures that I have posted this summer where taken with a Canon 20D, a camera that is very out of date by today standards.
Busy: Not! I should not be very busy today with it being Monday, maybe 3 out and 3 in.
Typing: After all these years blogging and typing, I still fight to not look at the keyboard while typing 😦
I sometimes think I am a very slow learner.
Smileys: Some people hate them some people love them and I am in between. I like using them sometimes because I like to convey a feeling of lightheartedness. I like them enough that I am going to add a link to my favorite smileys site, Smiley Arena You can finds lots and lots of free smiley there.
Birds: This week I am going to do Woodpeckers, two or three kinds maybe and I’ll start with the Red-bellellied Woodpecker.
Busy day: Sunday is always my busy day here at the park and it was so today. It is now a little after 3pm and I am caught up so …. it is chill out time 🙂
Birds: Okay, here is the last of the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. These birds where enjoying my platform feeder, back in the day when I was in a stick and brick. (stick and brick = House 🙂 )
Female Grosbeak with a male Grosbeak and a male Cardinal in the background.
The boys just hanging out 🙂
Exercise: I walk a couple miles this morning and rode the bike for 4 miles this afternoon.
Added two more miles of bike riding to the day.
Weather: We have overcast skies this afternoon so maybe some rain later. Sure makes it cooler.
Birds: A couple more Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks.
No Exercise: I will take the day off and let the knees rest for a bit.
Weather: We are into the hottest part of the month it seems and I am feeling it. Heat with just a little humidity added. 89° with 53% humidity, which is high to me, being in the desert for the last few years.
Exercise: I took a late ride this morning on the bike and the wind was already up a little, so I just did 8 miles in the park.
I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 8.82mi, time: 47:13, pace: 5:21min/mi, speed: 11.20mi/h.
Birds: Grosbeak, Rose-Breasted.
Feather Friends: I sometimes post on bird forums and my favorite is Feather Friends and The Humming Bird forum. Both run by the same person. If you are a birder you should visit them. If you want to see post by me look for post authored by Poppabird 🙂 Oh by the way, I have a link to Feather Friends over on the right side of the blog too.
Caught in the rain: I took my bike for a ride in the park and a rain came up really fast, got a little wet but it felt pretty good to tell the truth 🙂
Birds: More Rose-Breasted Grosbeak.
Exercise: A nice bike ride this morning, I did a couple of chores while I was out by riding into town and stopping by the VA and Walmart.
I rode with MapMyRide! Distance: 10.42mi, time: 01:04:48, pace: 6:13min/mi, speed: 9.65mi/h.
