Lining things up

Busy Visiting: I have been busy today trying to line up a job for next summer, lots of time talking with the ranger who seems like a great person. Anyways this will be another camp host position. The area I would be hosting has 10 sites and the host site. The host site has electric(from solar array) a waste hook up (dump), but no water, I will have to haul water from the ranger station if I get the gig, but if I get the gig there will be a truck I can use for that, meaning no fuel wasted from me driving my truck.

Pictures of the Host site: Here is where I would be spending my summer. If I get this gig I could be here for 6 months of next year April – October, so we’ll see.

I would still be on solar but I would be stepping up from my 4 panels to this 48 panel array. I think that I could live well off this much power 😀 The only thing I would need to worry about is if the Hosts before me have badly abuse the system and destroyed the batteries, trying to do things like run their AC all day and all night.

The one bad point I see, is that the host site is in the lower part of the camp ground and internet or TV signal is not the best here, so maybe no TV and maybe only 3G for the internet 😦 Even in the higher part of the camp ground (where I am now) I get about 2 bars of 4G internet signal and only PBS for TV.

From everything I see, I would like to do this gig but I am sure there are others that would like to do it too, so we’ll see how things goes.

And that my friends, is what I have been up for today.

Exercise: Just a short walk today. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.28mi, time: 45:25, pace: 19:56min/mi, speed: 3.01mi/h. Added some stretching.

Night folks

  1. Interesting that they provide such a huge solar array. Does this power other things in the park besides the host site?

I’m interested in your walking app. I looked it up, and it says there is access to a database of walking, running, and cycling trails with the basic app. Have you looked at that?

    1. Hi Judilyn, No the solar array is only to power the host site, RV don’t have to have a lot of power but like house they can use it if you use a lot of electric things.
I don’t use the data base for my ride/walks because I kind of like to cut my own trails 😉 The app help me keep track of distance and such.

      1. Unless there is a need for air conditioning, we get along fine with four 100-watt panels, four AGM’s, and an occasional boost from the generator.

Do you use your walk app on an iPhone?

      2. Yes while boon-docking I do well with 4 panels also. However if one is to stay a summer somewhere, they just might need ac for a day or so. Whoever does the winter here will sure need to run their furnace too. When power is available I am probably going to use more 😉

I use a android phone, but I think it would work with iPhone too.

  2. Good luck with it! Hopefully they will check with the Storrie Lake Mgr. and find out how great your work was there. They would be lucky to have you.

Looks like a nice spot. I look forward to visiting. If you get the job, will definitely make an effort to go through there next summer.

Riley says hi and missed your scritchy-scratches. 🙂

    1. LOL, funny thing, they did check with Mike (the ranger at Storrie) and he told them “You would be lucky to have him” I will have to thank him for that 🙂

Hopefully I will land this gig 🙂 I think I would like to summer here. Give Riley a good scratch for me 😉

  3. I wonder why your posts aren’t showing up on my blog roll? I keep missing them, then having to backtrack and read a bunch at once. Not a problem, but ???

So, anyway, I hope you get that camp host position. As far as TV goes, I love having it, but when it’s not available, I don’t miss it. Anything I want to watch can be done on-line, but that uses up data, of course. Good luck! 🙂

Yes, I am kind of the same on TV, as long as I have internet and phone service I can make do.
