Winslow AZ

Pictures: When your house is on wheels you never know where you might end up. While parked at a McDonalds I realize that I was about a mile from a very famous corner, so I took a walk down 🙂

“Well, I was standing on the corner in Winslow AZ taking pictures and this little old lady in an old beat up flatbed Ford came by shaking her fist at me and cursing, saying something about she should be the rich famous one!” Okay okay, I made that up but there should be a song in there somewhere!

Take it easy: This from WikipediA.
“”Take It Easy” is a song written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey, and most famously recorded by the Eagles (with Frey singing lead vocals). It was the band’s first single, released on May 1, 1972. It peaked at #12 on the July 22, 1972 Billboard Hot 100 chart, spending 11 weeks on the chart that summer, after debuting at #79 on June 3.” “It also was the opening track on the band’s debut album Eagles and it has become one of their signature songs, included on all of their live and compilation albums. It is one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Jackson Browne later recorded the song as the lead track on his second album, For Everyman (1973), and released it as a single as well, although it did not chart.”

“Take It Easy”

Well, I’m running down the road
tryin’ to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she’s a friend of mine
Take It easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
and take it easy
Well, I’m a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I’m climbin’ in,
so take it easy
Well I’m running down the road trying to loosen
my load, got a world of trouble on my mind
lookin’ for a lover who won’t blow my
cover, she’s so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
don’t let the sound of your own
wheels make you crazy
come on baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Night folks

  1. Thanks for the music I was just 30 years old then. I was 9 years when I got in contact with Rout 66 for the first time, and that with this song by Nat King Cole 1956.

  2. You are also close to LA Posada, a Harvy House; the TAT airport, part of the transcontinental air/train service; and McHood Park, a free county park but with no E,W,orD.rr

    1. Thanks Mike, Maybe next trip through I’ll check out the Restaurant and Hotel. I tried the McHood county park a couple years ago and it had a sign up saying no over night stays.
