Pictures: Pictures are off today 🙂.
Open Source Software: I like open source software and was wondering if other out there use it.
Here is some that I use.
1) Firefox- my browser (I have tried many other opensource browser) And use one or two more.
2) Thunderbird- Email Client
3) Keepass- password manager
4) Libre Office- office suite
5) VLC- media player
6) Search Everything- windows search tool
7) Audacity- music/sound editor
8) Notepad++ – Text editor
9) BleachBit- A cleaner for Windows
10) 7 Zip- file Compression Tools
11) SumatraPDF- A PDF reader
12) Green Shot- For capturing a screenshot
One I have loaded but don’t use much
13) Gimp – kind of open open source alternative to Photoshop
Other I have played with just to see what they do
14) Inkscape- Graphics/Drawing (Way over my head but fun to play with for a bit.)
15) ClamWin- Free Antivirus (I keep on a thumb drive to help others sometimes)
16) Blender- 3D Graphics Tools (Way over my head but I did a few tuts in it to play)
17) I have Linux Mint loaded on a very old computer I have here but don’t play with it much.
I may have forgotten some that I have or have used. All the above software is free and open source (FOSS). There is thousands of others kinds of software that is FOSS, and much of it is highly technical and way beyond me. I love FOSS!
City: I rode to Las Cruces with a friend to look at a truck he was interesting in and he did buy it. Older truck but a nice looking one for it’s age.
Weather: The heat is kicking and the forecast says it going to kick harder in the coming week. I see at least one 100 degree day coming and lots of near 100 degree dags, not really looking forward to those.
Pictures: This Black-chinned Hummer like to watch out for his feeder from close in.
Exercise: I got five days of walking in, time for a couple off now.
Swamp Thing: Today my friend and I added a water connection to the Swamp cooler and this will allow me to go off and not worry about the RV turning into a oven. I’ll keep a good eye on it for the rest of the day and tonight to watch out for leaks and other water malfunctions.
Pictures: Here is yet another of the Curve-billed Thrasher.
Exercise : I did my walk this morning and my Friend Barry went along and that made it go quicker.
Pictures: This Pyrrhuloxia was finding his seeds in the rocks and munching away.
Exercise: Why do I put this in my blog everyday? Well, it is kind of my way of holding myself accountable! And …. I am an old dude that just likes to do what he wants to do, LOL. My exercise page tells the story, but for good long time it has been a very repeating story. There was a time when my walks where different each day but as time has past, I am starting to be happy with just showing up for my walks even if it is the same each day. Another thing is that for a lot of months now I have been in RV parks and the choices are limit for getting in a good walk, not near as fun as when I am out moving around.
Pictures: I had to do one more of the Road Runner shots. I did cut his tail off a bit in this shot.
Exercise: Day two down, was a bit tougher this morning for some reason, but I got out and did it.
Pictures: Here is another of the Road Runner on the Bird Bath getting a drink. The backgrounds kills this shot but I at least got it all in the photo. The light was just too harsh this day.
Exercise: Monday brings me back to my walking, exercise page updated.
Pictures: This Road Runner comes to the bird bath for a drink every day now. Don’t think it likes the flash 😲.
Weather: It is not too bad this weekend, temperature wise, but without the Swamp Thing it would be a little warm. These RVs can be like a box in the sun that just holds the heat in. A fun thing I have figured out is that I can set with the door open and the Swamp Cooler running and get a very nice temperature drop, which is great because I can still watch my birds and stay cool. Not the most efficient way to run the cooler but it has a fan and a water pump so I don’t mind being a bit wasteful. It pulls 65 Watts of power when on low and that is where I run it for most of the time, on high it pulls 90 watts so not bad. Shoot, my TV pulls 55 watts when on, so just not that much power needed to run the Swamp Thing. 👍
Pictures: Another shot of the Pyrrhuloxia.
Masks: Finally scored some regular mask from Walgreens today. I had been wearing the home made ones. Today in Walmart I wore both, home made one over the store bought, made me feel a little better about being in with all the people who don’t want to wear the masks. I think it is a small thing to do if it helps keep everyone safe.
Sadly I seem a man with a dog today in Walmart that was not even house broken ….. and if you not sure which I am talking about the man or dog … me either!! At least he picked it up but still, What a jerk! Damn it folks, if you don’t have a need for a service dog please keep your untrained pets out of the stores!
Pictures: Curve-billed Thrasher getting a nice cool drink of water on a hot day.
Exercise : Made my 5th day of walking this morning, so I’ll have a couple off now. Exercise page updated.
