Canon, New Toys

Canon Cameras: New camera are out, two of them, Canon EOS R6 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera and Canon EOS R5 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera, both sound pretty nice to me. Lots of new R lens too. The Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM sounds interesting with a F7.1 on the long end. Even more interesting is two lens at F11 …. wow. Canon RF600mm F11 IS STM lens Lens and a Canon RF800mm F11 IS STM lens, again F11, wow! For now, it is all out of reach in cost for me, but as time goes by … maybe they will come down in price as new camera come out. Likely talking 2 or 3 years. I like the longer lens but there are some shorter focal length lens too, they too look pretty nice.

Would love to hear what some of you folks think about all the new toys.

License Plates: That time of year for me to renew my Plates and lucky for me I was able to do that online, cool! Next month it will be the RV’s Plates that needs renewed. NM offer the options of 1 or 2 years and I always take the 2 year option, to me it is just one less time I will have to mess with it.

  1. Check this out for thoughts on Canon’s new toys announcement. http://www.bythom.com/ I pretty much live and die by what Thom Hogan has to say about all things Nikon, his specialty. But he has also been following all makes of mirrorless cameras for a number of years and has lots of knowledge on them. He’s also reviewed quite a few.

I’m with you on taking the longer renewal option. The less often I have to deal with the DMV the better.

    1. Good read, these are going to have to have better images come out of them then the 100-600 Sigma and Tamron Lens to compete I think, otherwise looks like the Sigma and Tamron lens would be a better deal at F6.3. If you go by weight only …. well having a long lens does have some sacrifice, if weight is the all in all, one could just take a pencil and paper. F11 sounds like way to much to me. Not really expected much quality out of these at that price range, but it will be interesting to see how folks feel about them once in the wild.
On the cameras I really like the ideal of the In Body Image Stabilizers.

  2. RE: your plates:
    Happy for you.
I am supposed to go the DMV,
    to take a vision test.
    Should I die from covid,
    caught from the DMV?
    The mirrorless kick a**.
    I don’t have one.
    I like their more crisp,
    than real,
    reality.

    1. Here we have to call and make an appointment to go the the DMV and I think there is a long wait. I am lucky in that my drive license are good for 8 years and I just got the Real ID ones at the first of this year, before covid. So I should not have to go to the DMV for the next 8 years! Well unless I get different vehicle/rv or something like that.
Yes I am hearing good things about the mirrorless camera and IBIS should be a nice little helper too.

    1. Yes they do sound costly! I think the EOS R6 is for sure over price. I am not sure about the EOS R5 because I don’t know how it compares to the competition out there. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of images folks get with all this new gear.
