Dead app

RIP MapMyWalk: The MapMyWalk app will no longer work on my old Thunderbolt Smartphone 😦 Okay it is time to give up the Thunderbolt. I only use it as a pocket tablet anyways so I guess things will work out. I don’t have a mobile phone because I am too cheap to pay the ridiculous monthly cost to have one, so for a phone I use Verizon Home connect and I kind of like the ideal of leaving the phone at home 🙂 But I do like to have a data connection with me … so some kind of device that I can carry in my pocket is the thing I,m looking for. A smart phone that is not connected to a carrier would do the trick like the Thunderbolt but a newer one that will work with modern apps. For now I just put the MapMyWalk app on my Nexus 7 and stuck it in my back pocket, but I would like a smaller device for that. So ….. I am on the lookout for something that will work. Maybe a iPod or Smartphone of some sort. At any rate I have needed to let the old Thunderbolt go for a while now so now is the time, RIP Thunderbolt!

Exercise: I took a good walk, just to walk off my frustration of not being able to get the MapMyWalk app on the Thunderbolt, and that I did, no more frustration 🙂 I walked with MapMyWalk! Distance: 5.30mi, time: 02:04:07, pace: 23:25min/mi, speed: 2.56mi/h. A nice walk.

Time for a new bird

This picture was taken back in 07, the first year I stayed in Deming NM. This is a Curve-Billed Thrasher and they just love the yucca seeds. This was my first year out RVing and everything out west was so new to me. Little did I know about things back then, here is a link, about  Deming, NM , the post was back in Oct of 07. I had been full timing a whole 2 months 🙂   This is the best part of having a blog, I can look back and see what was going on at a given time. I remember I was really loving my birding then because about every bird I seen was new to me.

Well, I can see all the times except those times I went for long periods of times without posting, but for about the last 3 years or so I have posted near everyday, so now I can always see what was happening on a given day and I like that ideal.

I will not be exercising today, I will let the knees rest after the hard ride yesterday and ride again tomorrow. I did get out and do my hamstring stretching this morning and I may take a little walk this afternoon but it will be a very short one.

The weather is almost hot today! Wow, it feels nice. I may have to pull the blinds to keep the sun out on the south side of the RV and open some windows and air vents to cool down the RV. I am betting March will be a hot month here in Wellton. All that makes it time to start thinking about a cool spot for the summer. Somewhere above 8000 feet in NM maybe?

I am frying me some chicken, a big chicken breast. I eat a lot of chicken.

Caffeine/sweetener/ soda pop; I am soda pop free for about three weeks now and caffeine/tea/sweetener free for one week today. I do miss all my drinks but most days are not to bad.

Weight; still lock in at about 190 pounds 😦   I have not given up yet but it is getting very trying!

Have a nice day folks.

One more beautiful day

I guess starting tomorrow it will start to cool down here in the Casa Grande area, maybe I should be over in Yuma? If it warms back up, I will hang tough here till the end or near the end of the month. IF it stay cold, I might move out. I have said it many times …………. I like the ideal of my house having wheels!

Exercise today; a good walk, at least 5 miles. I will do a little stretching later on. Diet; I am doing OK and keeping my weight at about 190 lbs but I still need to be rid of the artificial sweeteners. Man I am really fighting this ideal of giving up that sweet tasting goodies(maybe baddies!) LOL.  Diet pop and tea sweeten with Splenda are my two big down falls. I am looking for the strength, send some my way if you have some extra, OK?

Update at 3 pm; I got my stretching done and it went well. I have stayed with my stretching now for a few months (maybe a year) and it has help a lot on the hamstrings, but I need to grow a little with it and extend to better cover things other than my hamstrings. Man there is no end to the improvements that I need to make!!! LOL. The best thing about being flawed is that there is so much room to get better    😉

Typing; I have not talk much about my typing lately, so I will just say that it has gotten to the point where I don’t hate having to type anymore. I am still not very fast but I get by and it is no longer the hardest part of blogging for me, like it was when I first started to blog. It makes blogging a bit more enjoyable for sure.

Birds; I have start to get a few House Finches at my feeders along with the Woodpeckers and Humming birds now. I had 3 Gila Woodpeckers this morning one female and two male but one male put the other on the road pretty quick. I got me a deal work up with a friend (thanks friend 🙂  )  and I will be getting a new long lens to shoot with soon so maybe I will get encouraged to start taking some pictures.

Bird of the week updated, I took the picture in Deming, NM of this Curve-billed Thrasher.

OK I think I will get outside and collect a little more Vitamin D for today. Sunshine and a warm day are just two great things.

Sign! Tonight we spotted this sign at the entrance to the park. It was put up 2 years ago and folks went into town looking to see where to get this permit and was told, there is no permit. LOL

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?

Looks a bit beat up, don’t you think?
