Maybe orientation today?: The one thing one must not worry about is being in a hurry if you are dealing with the State or Federal government, all things take time. So it is ….. nothing I am worried with. Like all government systems this one is under staff too. Odd the things uncle Sam don’t have money for vs the things it does have money for. At any rate I hope to get into something today. Tomorrow I am to go on a nature walk with one of the rangers and a group of people, that should be fun.
Ha, I just got a call and the ranger will be by to show me the ropes today, good deal.
Camp Ground: Man oh man, it is so peaceful and quiet here, I do like it. Of course, here in a few days I will have some stuff(tools and such) to work with and I will be getting busy, and I look forward to that. I am one that likes to earn ones keep 🙂
The host site here in the camp ground is the lowest one and I was worried about my internet connection but it is doing okay with my Wilson Directional Antenna connected to the MiFi device. I still have 2 bars of 4G, mind you it is not top speed but it is so bad either. TV on the other hand is just about out 😦 I do get PBS sometimes but that is it. Should I hook this job for next summer I may consider a satellite of some kind for my TV needs, but for the next 6 weeks or so I won’t worry about TV.
By the way , the solar system here is doing great so far and giving me all the power I need. I am running my Refrigerator, Microwave, Hot water heater and computers on it with no problem so far. The real test will be when it starts cooling off and I try running one (or two) of my small electric heaters on it ❓
Pictures: Here is a couple shot just outside my RV.
Here is a Rock Wern that came by for a visit today, seems to be a happy little bird 🙂
Today has started out to be a great day. Mild temperature and lots of sun, just don’t get much better. I got an early walk done this morning and I am feeling well, all one can ask for. Enjoyed a good conversation with one of my neighbor RVers and now just enjoying the morning and waiting on the ladies to come by to get into something. Actually we are planning a ride down to Villanueva State Park to take a look around. For me that means I am testing for the ability to connect to the internet with my MiFi device. 😉
Here are a few shots of the Western King Bird and her chicks, that are nesting in the tree just outside my RV. The first three are pictures of the Chicks venturing out of their nest and starting to limb hop and nesting. The the last one is Mom watching over things. I am seeing at least three different Humming birds, the Rufous, Calliope and Broad-tailed Hummers.
The knee is fussing just a little this morning , and that is the second time after riding the bike, that the knee is causing me a little pain. Maybe the muscles that are used to ride the bike have gotten a little slack with all the walking I have done over the past two months……?, not sure what the deal is. I will keep a close watch on it.
Today I will go with my friends to see some of the area’s attractions. I will take my camera along and get some pictures and post tomorrow maybe. It will be good to get out and do a little something away from the park. When left to my own doings I have a tendency to stay in a small area. I do this because it is less costly and my budget is low. It is good to get coached out into seeing more things when I am with friends. I look forward to it.
Today will be my first trial for the smart-phone (now with data only) and the new data device (MiFi 4620LE). I will try out the phone function and see how it goes. If you have not been following along, I have drop my smart-phone plan and only use my old Thunderbolt phone now as a data device, but I have it loaded with Talkatone an app that works with Google Talk and lets you made free phone calls. For this to work I have to carry both the phone and the MiFi device. We’ll see how it goes.
Update at 5:30 pm; The Smart-phone test did not do very well, seeing as we where out of cell tower reach much of the time. We did have a nice time though. We went to El Morro National Monument and Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, I will hopefully get to process a few pictures tomorrow.
Well over the next couple of days I need to use up all the data I can (of the 5 gigs on my old Verizon plan) before I drop the Verizon Data plan. Got to get my money’s worth!
Exercise was a great walk around El Morro today, about two miles, it is at least a little something.
