Travel: Travel leaves no time to blog , but … I’m at my new home for the summer! With a few stops in Quartzsite to pick up some last minute things, I pretty much drove all day yesterday, spend the night in Gallup, NM and then on into Grant this morning.
Location: My new location (Joe Skeen Camp Ground).
Pictures: I’ll post pictures tomorrow. Still have a few things to do for now.
Three days?: Yes, I am getting closer to time to hit the road. I at the “I can’t wait stage” LOL. Still I have nothing lock in as far as where I am going ……. it is kind of fun like that. I do have some ideals in my mind, but ideals is all with nothing set.
Pictures: Let me look around and see what I can find.
Something someone give me my first year out RVing, they also took me under their wing and show me the ways of boon-docking. Thanks Michael and Rosemary 🙂
Having fun watching the folks fly their Balloons, in Deming, NM.
This is a friend that I met near the start of my RVing and in this picture he is having fun with his duck, LOL fun times!. Still a good friend to this day. (Ha, Barry, you though maybe I lost this didn’t you? LOL)
Now here is what I call a tough RVer!!!! I did not take this picture or see him in person, this is a picture I got off the internet somewhere.
Exercise: I rode the bike for 8 miles or so (two miles at a time) and did my stretching.
1000 Robert’s Rd, Grants, NM 87020
Here is My new Location For the night, Walmart.
The above part of this post, posted from my Thunderbolt phone with the WordPress for Android app/Google maps.
This morning I decided to hit the road and when I pulled out, my friend (that I have met up with in Datil) was there, so we travel together to Grants. We had a great trip over and enjoyed the scenery. The last part of the trip was up highway 117 and the last 20 miles or so is just beautiful, as you go through what is called The Narrows. One one side of the road you have cliffs of maybe 100 feet or so and the other side is all old volcano flows, makes for a strikingly beautiful contrast. Here is a link with a little about it.
At any rate an all in all good day. Later.
Yes, we have rain yet again. There has been a good many days of rain here in the desert this year, last year there wasn’t near as much. I think it is a good thing, it sure helps to keep the dust down. I hope at some point today the weather will break up for a little while, so as I can get just a bit of exercise in. I am sure that I can find something, that I can do for exercise. The rain is coming and going a good bit so I’m sure that I can find enough of a break for short walk. There was a little wind this morning and I didn’t know how hard it was going to get so I put my solar panels down and I might just leave them that way, because it’s getting late enough in the year that the Sun is now higher in the sky and I can probably get by without them being tilted.
This morning I seen two Bald Eagles flying over while I was driving down the road in my truck. Later after getting back to the RV, I seen a Red Tail Hawk grooming itself in a tree, not far from my RV. I took the camera out and snapped few shots, I don’t know how they come out, but we’ll see later. Must be a day for Raptors.
Update 3 30 p.m. The rain has stopped but the wind has picked up and is blowing pretty hard now. I’m glad my panels are down. The good news is, we got a little bit of Sun peeking through the clouds, a good thing. The Sun comes and goes but it mostly stays hidden behind the clouds, still, that’s okay, I’ll still get enough sun to get my batteries charged. The wind is getting harder the later it gets in the day.
I did get a walk done today, about 3 miles.
Travel is something I will have to do more of this year than I wanted. I remember that my Driver License expire in Mar of 2012. In SD you can renew any time during the six months leading up to your expiration date. With that in mind I had rather be in SD in Oct than in March, Yes! So this year I will have to make the trip to SD. It is hard to believe that near 5 years have gone by (that is how often you must renew your license in SD). I guess it will motivate me to get the wheels to rolling!
So I am already looking for places I can boon-dock along the way. If you know of any between AZ/NM to SD let me know. I would love to find places that you can hang out at for 2 weeks at a time.
I got in about 9 miles so not bad and I may take yet another short ride.
It is kind of cool this morning ……… time to go??? LOL. I had looked at going to Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona however it is at a high elevation and is starting to cool off pretty good. Just thinking on things ………
In a rut today. Can’t seem to get going at all.
OK I have rutted all day and it is now gone ………. not a bad day!
I update my iPod touch to latest firmware and lost my jailbreak ……. now I will have to wait till they come out with the new one(jailbreak). Jail-breaking help make the iPod do more tricks.
Finishing up the work on the RV, yes I think I have done about all I am going to do for now. Maybe a little cleaning but that is about all. The outside of these RV are forever needing cleaned!
Just spent about an hour doing Microsoft updates, 19 on the desk top and about 13 on the laptop Plus had to update Microsoft Security Essentials on both computers. It kind of makes me nuts, all the updates that have to get done on computers. I bet I use at least a Gig of bandwidth each month on just updates and this month a lot more (well with the download of Photoshop CS 5 maybe 2 Gig) . Oh well I signed on farther enough back that I have unlimited bandwidth so I don’t have to worry about going over. It does take a lot of time ………. !
Where will I go next……………….? Well I have a place in mind but it can always change …….. if the notions hits, at any rate I am feeling the need to go!
just like the wind ………. Night John
