Weather, and thinking ahead

No pictures today.

The weather here has been warm to very good. It is now time to start thinking of what spring and summer will bring, as in where I will go for the summer months. It is still a month or so out but I am thinking on it. When it is time to get started I will move to somewhere where the elevation is around 4000 feet or so to spend the spring time. As summer sets in I will look at areas 6000 to 9000 feet. This has pretty much became my pattern over the last few years and I like doing it like that. I look for weather that gives me night temperatures of around 50° and day temperatures in the 70° to 85° range. Of course life don’t always give me the things I want so I may miss by a few degrees Needless this is the gold.

Oh, one other thing that I want to find other than good weather is some good birding 🙂

Yesterday I worked on the RV roof again and I am about done with that job (so glad). I need to check out a few more things on the RV before I get on the road for the summer.

I had not exercised for two days so I started today with a 2 mile walk, much-needed.

Verizon new unlimited plan! Ouch, has any of you folks try to read all the new rules to this plan? I have read the forums on this new plan and it is hard to understand and a lot of unknowns of rather rules will be enforced or might be enforced, LOL. On the surface it looks like a fine new plan but the fine print can be a little confusing, to say the least! One of the things that could be a problem is that in the fine print when roaming on other networks it goes to 2G (unusable for internet). Than there is the only 10 gig of high-speed (4G) as a hot spot, as in using your computer/table and such on it.

Grace’s Warbler

Data: Verizon will suck a extra $25 out of me this month 😦 Everything seem to take more bandwidth to do now-a-days. I fear that it will soon become prohibitive for me if the rate keep going up. Today is my last day on this data cycle so I will be able to do more tomorrow 🙂

Travel: I have moved but not very far. I am now about 40 miles west of Flagstaff.

The day: My day has been busy and the camp ground is full for tonight at 6pm. The day was sure gone fast!! I was painting this morning.

Internet : The internet (Verizon) is acting up a bit for some reason. My connection down in the hole( my RV site/host site) is only 3g speed today 😦 I have been talking with others in the camp ground and theirs is less signal too, but all the others are higher up than I so most of them have 4G speeds.

FCC : The FCC is to rule on net neutrality Thursday, hopefully with the million of letters they got telling them to not side with Verizon and friends will show in their ruling. The bet is that it will, we’ll see!

Bate and switch?

Verizon : Verizon is not giving me the discount that they said they would when I signed up for their data package. They did the first month but not this month, so I called in and the person I talked with took the ten dollars off my bill but did not acknowledge that the discount was on there and now I am wondering if they are eventually not going to give it to me? No matter, I will still keep the deal because I can’t beat it anywhere, however I will keep trying to save my $10 a month if I can.
It was odd how they did that discount. They offered it to many of the folks who first switched from Millenicom to Verizon but then stopped offering to the ones that switch later. I think now they are going to try not to honor it, and if they don’t I have no way to prove that they said they would give it to me. Maybe it’ll work out.

Old Nexus 7 (2012)

Nexus 7: I am updating the Nexus 7 again, from a factory reset. I have had a rebooting problem the since the last time so I am doing it all again 😦 I’m using McD’s WiFi so that will help on my data. The Lollipop update is going tough for me on the Nexus 7, I must say ….. in fairness, that I am rooting it as soon as I get updated so that may the cause of some of my headaches here. Maybe I’ll wait a day or two before I root it this time and maybe not ….. 😀

Verizon: I got a call from Verizon and they said it would be yet another month before My Verizon site will show my data used and send me warnings about the amount of data that I have used. Well, at least they called me back this time.

Road trips, coming soon

Road Trip, soon: Today is my Friday 🙂 I am off for two days now but still I will be busy. However my last day is Friday (real Friday) and than I will be off for about 6 months just to relax and chill out. Tomorrow will be my chores day and Wednesday I have an appointment with the VA in Albuquerque (little road trip), than back to work to close things out for this year. Than my friend and I will be off to parts unknown as of now, but we will be off, on a Big Road Trip!

Verizon: I finally got something from Verizon (message on my MiFi Device to give them a call) about my account and it looks like I will be able to keep my plan as is with only adding tax to it. So, it looks like my 20 gigs of data will be costing me about $100.00 a month for now. I am not sure how long that will last …. ? It will not be under contract so we will see. Good-bye Millenicom, it was a good run.

Verizon: Called Verizon and they are still not sure just what they are going to do with the new customer from Millenicom, as far as taking them to the cleaners goes! I am sure the wheels are rolling and the big wigs are seeing dollar sign big time, but they are keeping it to themselves for now. All the plans for data that they have now will cut my data by near half and add at least 10% to my cost. I am hoping they will offer something a little better, but don’t really expect them to.

Millenicom/Verizon: OMG as the kids say!! Well it seems that Millenicom a reseller of Verizon data has been cut off by Verizon. I get my data connections with Millenicom. Here is the Email I got from Millenicom.

We are announcing the acquisition by Verizon of the Millenicom customers who use their service. There should be no interruption with your Internet connection, they will be in contact with you regarding plan options.

So ……….. Verizon is about to sock it to all us Millenicom users 😦   “they will be in contact with you regarding plan options.”  Oh my, I am not looking forward to this!!! I am hoping for the best but no one knows at this point. It needs to happen between now and the end of the month I guess, seeing as that is the billing cycle. Before when Verizon has acquisition a company they have grandfather folks in but this time it is already theirs seeing as Millenicom was just a reseller of Verizon data, so who knows. Still I am hoping for the best but …… should I disappear …. you will know that I have been eaten up by Verizon, Ouch!!!!!

As a minimum I think they will burn us for $30.00 more. One they will have all kinds of tax (something over $10.00) and I think they will have us pay a device activation fee of $20.00 per month and the money we are now paying, and maybe, and just maybe they will let us keep the same amount of data and they will call that grandfathered in 😦    Verizon is all about getting the money out of you.

Internet and Phone, down

Cool and getting cooler: Looks like I’m in for a chill coming my way, says the weatherman. The report even has a day dipping below freezing, brr.

City:
Took a little trip into Grants today, just for something to do mostly. Picked up a couple things from Walmart.

Version: Wow, I have been in this area at least 4 other times and never had any trouble with phone or internet, but today they are both dead. I talked with the Host who has been here for 5 months and he said in all that time, this was the first time his phone did not work. I guess something broke at one of the towers somewhere. I hope it don’t stay down all weekend.

6pm Update: Verizon just coming back on line. Glad it’s back 😀 and I hope it stays up.
