Pictures: Some of the last shots taken in the Q area.
Moon over Blythe, Calif.
Exercise: About the only thing I am keeping up with of late. Mostly walking and a little bike riding, yesterday was about three miles walking.
Added a couple more miles today.
Location: I have moved north a bit, to a place near Parker, AZ. The lay of the land is about the same, but I am much nearer a city now and it has a Walmart among other stores, which is convenient.
Friends: I have had couple of folks drop by while out this winter but next Thursday I am meeting with three of my friends at once and these are some of the first friends I made out on the road when I first started RVing near 10 years ago. I do look forward to seeing them all at once.
Internet break: I kind of get a little burned out this time of year and have a tendency to fade away for a spell. Just one day I don’t post and then I just don’t get back to posting for a while.
I have not been doing much, just kind of hanging out. I did get a new Cell Phone, a Moto G4. I had the Home Connect device from Verizon for about 3 or 4 years and finally decided I wanted a cell phone again, something I could carry in my pocket. Not that I am all that crazy about having a phone with me but I do like my data with me. Many times over the last few years I would just grab my tablet and Verizon MiFi device and take all that with me when I wanted that data and now I can just put my data in my pocket(the phone that is). I am doing the prepaid with Straight Talk and I ported my number over, so I hope all goes well with that. It took a day or two for everything to get to working right on the Moto G4/Straight Talk but it seems to be doing good now. I made sure that I got the CDMA (Verizon Towers) version of things.
The Moto G4 is a budget phone in the smart phone lineup, but I am really liking it so far 🙂
Pictures: I have not taken any pictures for a week now. But here are a couple of shots I got of a Black-throated Sparrow while I was in my last spot, near Kingman, AZ.
Exercise: I have been hit and miss on my exercise of late but today I loaded my bike into the truck before going into the city and did about 10 miles on the bike once I got there.
Weather Change: The cold front has gotten to Lake Havasu but it is still far better than all the other folks are getting throughout rest of the US. The lows here are only in the mid 40s and high all the way up to upper 60s, so compared to all the other places it is still very good. The wind is blowing pretty hard, makes for a lot of dust.
Weekly Exercise: Here is a weekly summary. Finally did enough walking to have a summary 🙂
WEEKLY WORKOUT SUMMARY
WEEK OF 11/09/2014 – 11/15/2014
Exercise: Today’s walk. I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 3.78mi, time: 01:27:32, pace: 23:10min/mi, speed: 2.59mi/h.
Pictures: Took these today while walking.
This picture from yesterday evening at sunset, this is the view out my window.
Work: Yep, it is back to work days. Today is my clean up before the weekend day, try to have things look decent for the weekend, for the campers and visitors to the area.
Camp Ground: I am getting about half full each night now, so 5 out of ten campsites will be full most of the time, it is good that the place is getting used. I am surprised that it is not full all the time, maybe this kind of area is just for some of us, that really like the isolation. If you like the outdoors and the kind of things you do out doors you should love this area. Well, let me work on that a bit …. for the young people things like hunting and hiking. And for older types like myself, walking, birding, observing nature, enjoying the peace and quiet, and other such mild manner things 😉
Time to earn my Keep: Time to go out and see what is happening in all the areas I look after. Do a little cleaning and pick up the trash. Back later.
Pictures: House Wren, this shot taken in KY many years ago.
Copper’s Hawk, picture also taken in KY.
Verizon: I am frustrated by Verizon. They told me they would call me back and didn’t. I call them and still no one knows what is happening. You’ll have to back up a few post to see what this is all about. Big companies make me nuts.
WORKOUT SUMMARY for JAN 1 – JUN 30 2014
50086 kCal burned
Needless to say I have really slacked up this summer.
Bird: Another Downy Woodpecker. This Woodpecker is on one of my home made feeders, it is just a piece of wood with a hole drilled in the bottom of it. I then fill the hole with suet which the Woodpeckers and several other birds enjoy eating while hanging upside down 🙂 This feeder also served the purpose of keeping some of the bigger birds away because they are less acrobatic. The area that I lived in was one that had tons of Starlings and they would hog up a feeder of suet in no time at all.
Here I was one day, a couple or three year ago,( I can talk like that if I want to because I am a hillbilly) enjoying the good life. This is a area about 10 miles west of Casa Grande, AZ that is now closed to free boon-docking 😦
Bird: I’ll start today with a Blue Jay. On this day the Jay had a lot of choices 🙂
Time to rest, after hiding all them peanuts 🙂
Weather: So far today it has been just a beaut. Sunny, warm and beautiful, just the way I like them.
TV Antenna: I order a new antenna for my RV and today I receive it. On some days here my TV does poorly with signal and I’m going to wait till one of those days and then change it out (Maybe this evening). The antenna I got is the King Jack. There are a good many (good reviews) and a friend of my just got one and liked it very well. Here is a Link to her post about it.
Walking partner: I have lost yet another walking partner 😦 but hopefully she will revisit again (Come back soon Jeanne 🙂 )
Walking is my thing here in the BLM land, lots of great off trail walking to be done here! Since I am not on any trails I can just go off in any direction I like and see what I come upon. I like walking like this it takes me to some fun and interesting places. Mind you I don’t walk far enough or long enough to get to places where others haven’t been but I do get to places where few go. I often see no tracks but my own. I run into the lots of wildlife and see the areas not seen by just everyone. I must admit this BLM land has been a surprising fun place for me to be. This morning I walked for two or three hours, it was a slow walk but nice, long and very scenic.
Talking with the host here this morning I found out that this is a 7 day camping area which you can return to after being out for 14 days. Excellent place to spend a week.
The weather here has been like about all of NM this year (or more like this time of year in NM) nice sunny morning and cloudy afternoons, which is working fine for me.
I don’t seem to have needed much in the way of electrical power this summer and in lite of that, I don’t miss the afternoon sun much on the solar panels. Not that I haven’t had it but I just haven’t wanted it for much. Summer time TV is just not much 😯 and I have gotten in the habit of doing much of my writing/text part of my blogging with the Nexus 7 which needs little to no power.
The day is so nice that I had decided to sat out to do my blogging and web browsing. I am again setting on the sand buff that overlooks the road and all the BLM land on the other side where I often see elf roaming around. As I said the other day there is not a lot of traffic on this road but I have notice that there are a good many RVs mixed in with what traffic there is.
