Wild flowers

Pictures: Just some wild flowers around the RV.

I am surprise sometimes when I see the rough area that these flowers will grow in.

But grow they do.

Exercise: I walked for about 3 miles today.

The following is for folks that use WordPress.com as their blog.
Likes: WordPress is a pain sometimes! I use my Android WordPress App to read blogs(it has a build in reader) and it gives a bit different look than a browser. In some ways it is easier but it don’t show the full site, it just kind of shows text and images, like reader/image viewer. Which is fine most of the time.

However….. πŸ™‚ sometimes I like to look at sites in my browser and I got to noticing that many sites when looking at a front page that shows many posts (like my blog does), each individual post in the front page did not show the “like button” at the bottom of each post. To see the like button you had to click each post individually like it than go back to the main page and do the same for the next post. Doing likes like this takes a lot more time when the blog is like my and shows all of each post without the need to click on it. So it is nice when the Like button is there on the main/front page with each post. You can like it and just stroll down to the next post. Saves a lot of time and page loading(Data).

So …. I wonder if my site is like that …. so I log off and click on my site and it too did not show the likes at the bottom of each post without clicking the post first.

I had to fix that! This is how I did it. Link to the support page WordPress Like Support Page In the support page find this (figure 1) and do it! (Note “it” being to put a check in the box by Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results ) Than each post on your front page will have the Like bottom πŸ™‚ without having to click each individual post, as shown in Figure 2.

WordPress: I can’t get my wordpress “Likes” to work at all, on the computer or the table 😦 been that way for a couple of days now. I hate it when they are fixing things and then things break.

Yes! Back to warm weather

Pictures: When I post some of my bird pictures I will often pull them out of old file folders on my Computer and just pick ones I have not processed yet, put them in Photoshop and see what happens. Today I found a folder named (Sort Cloudcroft) this means that I took these shots deleted the bad ones and just left them to sort later into the right bird folders(which it looks like I never got around to doing). So it is kind of like new stuff to me πŸ™‚ .I took these pictures about 3 years ago in Cloudcroft, NM, and it is one of the best places I have been here in the west for birding. Should you ever be in the area I would highly recommend camping out in the National Forest near Cloudcroft, NM. Beautiful area with lots of birds.

Here is two pictures I took while there.

I’m not all that good at IDing Warblers, so if you don’t think this one is not a Yellow Warbler drop me line with the right ID.

Weather: Yes’ I talk of the weather a lot, well you know that good weather is an old dude’s dream? It is true, we live for the beautiful days with lots of sunshine and mild weather πŸ™‚ You know what? It is a good day for me today πŸ™‚ The sun is out and the temperatures are getting better. I think maybe the cold spell has pass by this little area of the southwest, a nice thing for all the other RVers and I, indeed.

WordPress: After getting the stats the other day I have been looking around the stats page and man, it sure has a lot of information about what is happening with your blog! Stats is not a thing I have paid the least bit of attention to during my blogging but after a good look around I can see the page has a lot of useful info and tools. I sometimes get busy and miss when followers join and then I of course miss out on their blogs. I see you can find a list of your followers in the stats, I didn’t know that 😦 because I just didn’t looked at them. I guess there is a lot I don’t know about blogging even if I have been at it a while. I guess it is never too late to learn.

Exercise: I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.39mi, time: 45:04, pace: 18:50min/mi, speed: 3.19mi/h.

More Petroglyphs Pictures: By the way these are not easy to find petroglyphs, they are way off the beating trail, compare to others you might see. I don’t know a thing about petroglyphs but I had fun going to see these.

Bird of the week: I have been neglecting my Bird of the Week so here is a update. Female Brown-Headed Cowbird.

WordPress: Man they must be working on WordPress, I can’t seem to get things to work at all, tags and now my Widget along with the other tools o_O come on WordPress!

Okay I found the problem …. well at least I know it is something to do with my Firefox browser or one of my add-ons. Rats!!!! Found the add-on …. It was a add-on by the name of Disconnect Well okay, to get right down to it ….. it was an operator error, that would be me 😦 By playing with the setting of the add-on, I got things going again.

Ten apps to help you blog on Android tablets

1.Β  WordPress; This one is great if you are a WordPress Blogger. Bloggers app, if you use Google blog.

2. Evernote; If your blog is neither of the above, Evernote could be very helpful. Evernote is a great app for other things too and comes with cloud storage. Great little note keeper.

3. Merriam Webster; Dictionary, there are many dictionary available. Just pick your favorite.

4. Easy Text to Speech; I use this one to read back what I have written, great for catching typos and other little grammar mistakes. (And you know I don’t catch them all, if you read my blog much 😯 )

5. IVONA Text to Speech; This is a much better voice than Google voice, and this is added to the app above for a better Text to Speech experience.

6. Clipper;Β  is a clipboard manager that I find very useful.

7. Swype keyboard; If you are on one of the latest Android versions you can swipe away on the Google Keyboard, if not I highly recommend one of the 3rd party keyboards that will allow you to swipe instead of typing.

8. Google maps; I often blog my location and Google maps is just the best for this, other bloggers will mention places that you may want to look up too, just a all-around handy little tool. There are other maps too.

9. Google translator; If you do much blogging sooner or later you going to want to read somebody’s blog that don’t write your language, Google translator will allow you to do this.

10. SwipePad; My latest app that I am enjoying, helps make multitasking on the Android much easier. There are a couple of other multitasking tools that will also help with android.

There you go, ten apps to help you blog with an Android tablet.

I walked with MapMyWalk+! Distance: 2.37mi, time: 49:45, pace: 21:00min/mi, speed: 2.86mi/h.
Looks like I got near 3 miles today, maybe tomorrow will be a good walk πŸ™‚ somewhere between 6 to 12 miles hopefully. I did top off my exercise with some stretching today.

Today’s weather for the most part looks like it will be near the same as yesterday but with little peaks of sun now and then. Feels a good bit warmer too with little to no wind today. Update 02:12pm: mostly sunny πŸ™‚ I like that. My solar system has got the batteries completely charged, good deal.

Riding the bike

It was great to be on the bikeΒ  for a good ride this morning and I rode for about 12 miles, just goofing off around the little city of Las Vegas. I am feeling a little more caught up today, a good thing whether or not I really am caught up, just feeling that way is good 😯 ! I always feel better in the morning when I do my exercise first thing …………………

It just gets the body in a good mood,

WordPress is changing things again. I wish they wouldn’t do that so often. I always end up having to open up my browser more when they do. I keep a very tight control on cookies and such. This time I had to open up the Google links. I think it is because WordPress added a location link that is power by Google. However, it also open up my tags again.

I have not had any rain for the pass 2 days here but it is looking like it might today. Lots of clouds and I hear thunder in the distance.

Enough for today, later.

Microsoft Word/WordPress testing

A little while back a friend of mine was having a little trouble doing a copy from Microsoft Word and then pasting to WordPress. I do not use Microsoft Word much so I know very little about trying to paste to WordPress with it. Also at the time I didn’t know about the little button at the top of the editing page in WordPress made just for this very thing. So today I am doing just a few lines in Microsoft Word to test this thing out. The other day I did a cut and paste without using the tool built into WordPress and that did not do very well.Β  Looks like the button makes things work pretty good with text. This paragraph was copy from Microsoft Word and pasted to this post with the tool in WordPress, it is circle in the snip below.

This button.

Ever wonder what the code looks like to post a picture on WordPress? The above picture code is below in HTML. By the way I only copied and pasted this code from Flickr. It looks to me likeΒ  pretty basic thumbnail HTML code you would see anywhere. Hopefully this will work, to show the code.

<a title="WordPress by photojohn11, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/95804666@N05/8751955922/"><img alt="WordPress" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2845/8751955922_10c6b5d723_z.jpg&quot; width="568" height="101" /></a>

Ever wonder how to show the code and not the image? Use this page to convert it. I like looking at this kind of thing now and again without getting in too deep. I use to be able to do this kind of thing by hand, but it takes a lot of time unless you really know what you are doing and I never did, just enough to get it done.

Hey, it is time for the Bird Of the Week. This is a Black Tailed Gnatcatcher and the picture was taken in Why, AZ about 5 years ago. I have seen a few nice birds here in the RV park but it don’t seen like I get time to take many pictures, or I think it is more that I don’t want to because the parking area in this RV park is so tight that my camera would always be pointed at a RV. I think maybe some of the birds where just passing through. I seen a pair of Bullock’s Orioles at my Humming feeder and a Painted RedStart around the park, both nice birds to watch.

I think it is time to get out for a spell. I was out earlier today but in the truck, so I could go wash it and do some shopping. Now I think I will take a short bike ride. Update on the bike ride; I did get in a short ride of about 5 miles, not much but it warmed me up enough to do a little stretching, so good enough, about 33 miles for the weekend.

Been playing with my Network settings and I set up a Home Group on my two Windows 8 Computers. I am not all that great on networks but they are making things easier with each version of Windows. One needs to be careful that they do not open up files and such to a public network, but on the other hand I want my computers open to each other. The WifiRanger Go makes me feel a little safer on the RV Parks WiFi.

Have a nice day folks.
